Evian Group Arab Region

EGAR

The Evian Group Arab Region (EGAR) was formally created in 2006 in Cairo, Egypt, during the inaugural EGAR meeting held March 19-20 of the same year with the aim of helping define a well-articulated globalization agenda for the Arab world. It is an Arab regional coalition of prominent business, government and opinion leaders aiming to ensure the great competitiveness of the Arab region and facilitate its integration in the global economy.

The EGAR is not an executive body; therefore, it takes care of identifying and mandating appropriate entities for the execution of selected programs.

Vision and Mission

The EGAR believes that political, social and economic transparency and free market economy are the necessary components to achieve sustainable growth and generate the proper momentum of socioeconomic development of the Arab world. According to EGAR, this can be achieved firstly through investment and cultivation of human capacity, improvement of education and an active exchange of ideas in an open society where entrepreneurship and innovation would go hand in hand.

The EGAR promotes the principle of an open market economy, within the framework of multilateral and interdependent rules-based regional and global systems.
