Two annual meetings have already taken place in Cairo in 2006 and 2007; both were attended by some 50 delegates. The third is to be held in Amman, Jordan, in April 2008. The necessity to both reflect and integrate the diversity of the Arab world into the global market economy is seen as a key component of the EGAR initiative.

• The inaugural EGAR meeting was held March 19-20, 2006, under the theme of “Meeting the Challenges of Globalization, Generating Regional Dynamics & Setting an Agenda”. It helped define a well-articulated globalization agenda for the Arab world. The full report is available here
  
  
• Building on the findings of the first EGAR meeting, the second took place May 28-29, 2007, under the theme “Arab Forces and Global Dynamics, Issues, Trends and Prospects for the Arab and World Trade Agenda”. It unfolded four steps: the challenges of youth employment and inclusion; the Arab region and the 21st century global economic paradigm; business leadership for regionalization and globalization; the importance of the WTO and the global trade agenda in enhancing peace and prosperity both globally and regionally.
